An old Turkish rug, very worn with loads and loads of character here.
Woven in Turkey in the 19th Century, this Oushak rug comes with great history and culture, speaking volumes about its people and a period of time. The ground of this rug is tan but has a red undertone as once upon a time, this rug was indeed, red, dyed naturally with red madder root.
Very worn with several repairs to reinforce its integrity. Backed with cotton sheet to preserve it and add a secure underlayment.
Colors are hard to photograph and is based on lighting and angles so please note this. Each pic you notice is slightly different because of angle and what side of nap we photographed. We are happy to show you this rug on a video call for an up close experience if you are interested.
Condition: low pile and there are some minor holes throughout. We can patch them or leave as is, it is always up to the client and you can advise us how you like your antique rug to be before it ships.
Antique Oushaks are quite a hit, with many designers and decorators who love and appreciate the subdued color palette, large scale design and special, ornamental and symbolic medallions. Oushaks have become highly desired, collectible rugs and we can see why, but finding one is not easy! If you've done your homework, you can see the history and prices out there on true, antique oushak rugs and the value and fine quality you have here. This is an investment rug, but you're ahead of what the majority of these elite rugs go for out in the market and we're proud to deliver at rock bottom pricing.
