Handwoven and preserved in amazing condition after over a century of life, this charming antique Persian Rug shows off remarkable stylized all over floral art throughout the field. It is just so beautifully drawn and stands as a grand work of tribal elements and coloration, including sensational abrash (variations of natural dyes from wool batches). This piece sings with love and it is so pretty to look at and adore.
The area from which this rug comes from is Bidjar, and the rugs from this dusty town were predominantly woven heavy, known to be a bit more stiff than other Persians and coined as the "Iron rugs of Persia", for their great durability and densely packed wool that is literally pounded down after each knot is tied on the loom. These rugs withstand heavy use and abuse and are well known for superb artistry, craftsmanship and resilient wool, recognized easily by their heavy wool foundation.
This Persian is low pile and wonderfully aged with vegetable dyed wool. From circa 1900.
