Handwoven in the late 19th Century, this is an antique Northwest Persian runner that offers us amazing geometric design, color ways and condition. Ivory and blue which is so favored does not come often enough in old rugs!
This wool on wool foundation tribal runner is loaded with animal elements that have immense symbolism. On the ivory ground, it has 3 step medallions on a blue paisley filled field and lighter blue sprandels, and just look at that 5 lane border! The wool is soft and floppy. We recommend a rug pad that we can custom cut for you and ship with the runner.
The best part? Well, that is perhaps the one end of the runner which has a switch in dyes! Do you see how it features the madder red only on one end? The natural dye batch changes simply exudes the work of true art that it is, showing off hand knotted beauty with natural character we treasure. We are in love with this runner if you cannot tell. It has soul & history that is locked in every inch woven.
Hand knotted with vegetable dyed wool circa 1880.
