This is an old Persian village rug, hand knotted by tribal weavers of Shiraz, which happens to be home to the famous Qashqai tribe. It travels to us from the turn of the 20th Century and was hand knotted with old world wool and on a wool foundation.
This Persian is all organic; its wool was naturally dyed with vegetables, roots and plant sources. It features 3 poled diamond medallions on the field, with tribal motifs throughout, packed with immense character, animal and symbolic elements.
It shows off its beautiful age of 100 years and you'll see healthy wool, along with some sheen, due to the lanolin oils of the sheep locked into this Persian's wool. It will bring immediate, old world charm to any space it lives in. The wool is soft, especially on the borders where it has less wear and then within the field you'll get it a little more love worn with lower pile. The rug is clean and in great shape for its age and has great shocks of amazing shades of blue, especially the ones in the 4 corners. This piece has a warm and complementary color story that is quite irresistible and sooting to look at.
Low to medium wool pile with scattered wear. Clean, fully secured ends. Wool on wool foundation. With a beautiful, floppy handle. Priced at a great value. Thanks for shopping small!
