This is a darling late 19th Century antique small rug that used to be the front side of a fancy saddle bag of the Kurdish tribe, to be used on their own camels. The back was most likely a striped Kilim. The Kurds...they have beautiful woven treasures that represent great pieces of history and are highly prized. All that you see here is all natural, vegetable dyed wool. It simply does not get better. We believe this handsome P E R S I A N Kurdish weaving was made by a member of the Jaf tribe among the nomadic Kurds.
This is a perfect little scatter rug that can go anywhere on the floor, or hung on a wall for amazing decor. It can also be used as a mat on your bedside table to place things on or on top of a dresser drawer, on the dining room table or on the piano. Well, you get the point...these small antique pieces can go anywhere to add some amazing color and decor to your space.
The wool pile of this rug is soft and luxurious. The foundation of the rug is also wool. Look at the sheep's wool on the fringes; just so raAw and beautiful. This sweetheart is in nice condition for its age. We acquired this from a collector who had about 2 dozen small and special pieces.
We will send a rug pad on the house to keep this baby nice n snug.
