Set on a sangria color ground, this tribal Afghani Baluchi is in good shape and definitely sets the mood with its warmth and style. It has a wool pile, and flat weave top and bottom end finishes, displaying a distinctive and 2 different weaving techniques in one piece.
The rug is on a soft wool foundation, with its fringes displayed, raw and beautiful. Tribal motifs are evident throughout and their culture is represented in their woven pieces.
A lot of the Baluchistan pieces woven were saddlebags, cushion covers, saddle covers, horse covers and more. They also made blinders for their donkeys, horses and camels. This piece was woven circa mid 20th Century and has underside strips to help ground the rug when styled. This rug is in nice condition, but has some loss of wool, please see pics.
