Crafted by female weavers from Malayer, Persia around the 1880s, this adorable village rug is truly a unique antique piece to behold. Its rare square-ish shape gives it the ability to fit in spaces that are in dire need of some personality, but limited in size. A wonderful and creative use of the paisley motifs across the main field against a navy blue ground, with the awesome design seamlessly extending into the edge guards, creating a harmonious and cohesive vibe. Turtle shape motifs within the borders add a touch of whimsy and playfulness.
Handwoven with wool dyed using natural sources like flowers, plants, and vegetables, the contrast between the navy blue and the lighter, warm tones creates depth and definition in the decorative patterns, while the hints of cream and soft accents provide a nice balance. A stellar piece that has amazing construction and style, easy to place and work around.
