Vintage Worn Tribal Rug / 3'8 x 7 Kazak Rug #3861

Regular price $1,400.00

Check out this antique Kazak rug that was handwoven around 1900 by nomadic weavers in the Caucasus Mountains. It is made entirely by hand using vegetable dyed wool for the pile on a natural wool foundation. The colors have softened over time, giving the rug a worn, mellow look that adds to its charm.

The main field features four poled medallions, each with its own color scheme. Inside each medallion are eight-pointed stars, symbols of happiness and fertility, and they're outlined with the classic ram’s horn motif, a nod to strength and power.

The borders are full of movement. Closest to the center is a narrow band with geometric botanical motifs, followed by a wider ivory band filled with bold, serrated leaf shapes. The fence of security pattern in the outer most border symbolizes the protection of all that the weavers held dear.

The colors are more muted now, mellowed by time, but they still hold a lot of warmth. It's a beautiful example of traditional craftsmanship and the kind of piece that tells its story quietly, through design and wear.
