This antique Persian Malayer is softly aged, with low pile, scattered wear, and a graceful presence. The field features repeating elongated paisleys (boteh motifs), woven in a rhythmic lattice — a classic symbol of life, spirit, and fertility in Persian rug language.
At some point in its long life, this rug went through a compound wash — a traditional process that gently mutes the original dyes, leaving behind a calm, chalky patina. The palette is now neutral and hushed, a grounding force in any room that doesn’t try to outshine the rest.
There are tiny dime size areas of threadbare (shown in pics), but the rug is structurally sound and full of soul — a true antique that’s still got stories to tell.
