This is definitely a spectacular, old Turkish rug and we're proud to have it in our collection.
Woven in Turkey circa 1880, this Oushak rug comes with great history and culture, speaking volumes about its people and a period of time. It encompasses both a floral design, with an all over pattern on a red background. It has great appeal with old world charm and wool that was dyed naturally with vegetables. The borders feature a dark teal blue ground or light midnight blue ground. You will notice the variation in wool color and the abrash in the rug, which is absolute character and validation of this rug's age and authenticity.
Antique Oushaks are quite a hit, with many designers and decorators who love and appreciate the color palette, large scale design and special, ornamental and symbolic medallions. Oushaks have become highly desired, collectible rugs and we can see why, but finding one is not easy! If you've done your homework, you can see the history and prices out there on true, antique oushak rugs and the value and fine quality you have here. This is an investment rug, but you're ahead of what the majority of these elite rugs go for out in the market and we're proud to deliver at rock bottom pricing.
The condition of this rug is excellent, and in especially good shape considering its age and history. Please message us if you're interested. We are in Los Angeles, happy to show you if you are local. Also can video chat with this rug if you're not local and you can get a video walk through of this rug!
