One of the great things about a handwoven rug is all the unique characteristics that make it a one-of-a-kind piece. This awesome antique 1880s rug from the Caucasus Mountain region is a perfect example. A little tapered on one end, it is a natural byproduct from the handweaving process.
Bold graphics that include ram’s horn motifs, that symbolizes power, strength, and masculinity and bird motifs that symbolize good luck and happiness can be seen throughout the main field. If you look closer, you can also see other animal motifs and diamonds that hold a significant meaning to the weaver and the environment she comes from. The border band also includes a bold S-hook motif meant to protect against the evil eye.
Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool, the landscape inspired color scheme adds just the right amount of warm and cool hues to make this neutral rug really stand out. Although this fantastic rug has a low pile and has some wear, it is ready to grace any space it is placed in with style, charm, and a dash of authenticity.
