Immerse yourself in the beauty and mystery of the Caucasus Mountain region with this lovely antique 19th century square scatter rug. Handcrafted by a skilled weaver using traditional techniques passed down through generations, this rug is a wonderful example of tribal design floor art. The rug's striking pattern features four arrows pointing to each corner, symbolizing the strength, direction, and purpose of the people and cultures of the Caucasus region. The central medallion is surrounded by a ram’s horn motif, known for symbolizing strength, power, and fertility. You can also see the pinwheels of life motifs on the field of the rug.
One of the other captivating features of this rug is the abrash effect throughout the design, which adds depth and character to the piece. This natural variation in color and tone is a hallmark of authentic, handwoven rugs and adds to the rug's unique charm and character. Woven with vegetable dyed wool, the beautiful pops of French blue have a grounding effect and enhances the striking power and presence of this beautiful rug.
This is a softer rug as it was woven on a wool foundation and it has a floppy handle, so we'll throw in a custom cut rug pad to anchor it down and keep it put. It is not recommenced for a high traffic area. It'll be a great piece filled with a deep-rooted history to add the flair of old to the new.
Low pile, very worn. Hand wowen with all natural, vegetable dyed wool.
