This late 19th-century Persian Lavar rug is bursting with so much character, it’s to die for. The design is something you don’t see every day, a repeating pattern that looks like a watery reflection of a decorative vase with a bouquet, giving it a truly unique feel. The ivory ground sets the stage for an incredible mix of colors, like soft ice blues, rich rust reds, calming sage greens, and warm wheat tones, all coming together beautifully.
The border bands are just as striking, featuring an ornate pattern on a deep navy background that adds depth and contrast. Made from vegetable dyed wool, this handwoven rug is sturdy and has a good amount of pile left, making it feel substantial underfoot. There’s some scattered wear and a patch (please see pic). The edges have seen some life, and while the original edge guard is no longer intact, we’ve secured them to ensure longevity.
This piece is truly one of a kind, bringing history, artistry, and craftsmanship together in a way that’s hard to find. And yes, it’s clean and ready for a new space to call home.
