Talk about magical and TRIBAL! This antique rug in a great size was woven in Caucasus mountains and it has such a mood! definitely commands attention and in the greatest way.
With a character earned solely through time, this old runner features amazing art history and symbolic elements that tell more of its story. Hand woven a wool foundation, the artisans featured what collectors identify as eagles in the field of the runner. Most of the cultural symbols have their origins wrapping around folk mythology, folklore, religion, art and history. The eagle is a symbol of courage, wisdom and freedom to these mountain nomads.
This 1940s highly decorative antique has various shades of dyes throughout, which is termed "abrash". These are different batches of the dyes that were used while on the loom, which all the more lends to the art and style of this piece.
