Here's a vibrant and rich tribal rug, hand knotted by tribal weavers of Shiraz, which happens to be home to the famous Qashqai tribe.
This circa 1920s wool rug has a geometric design with strong and prominent medallions on its field. The weavers included many animal elements in the rug, which undoubtedly symbolizes to us the weaver’s story, community and history. In the border, you'll see paisleys and flower heads. Within the field of the rug on a deep navy blue/midnight blue ground, you'll notice a beautiful array of tribal motifs spread throughout, as well as small scale paisleys (symbolism: seeds of life) in the outer part of the field.
This is a wool on wool foundation rug, naturally dyed with vegetables, roots and plants sources. It is low pile with scattered wear, and has a lovely, floppy handle as the wool has softness and flexibility. It is a wonderful piece with folk art and that tangerine color has great pop on this old Persian! It will ground a space with great soul and story.
Exact size: 6'9 x 9'
