This Persian owns a striking display of lattice like art with exquisite details. What you'll notice is the low pile wool art sits against its foundation with a 2D effect. It has a style that gives this beauty even more definition...we only have one other rug in shop in the last few years with this texture and style.
While we carry a good selection of these favored and in-demand village rugs in the shop, not many are found on an ivory ground and this rug dates back to being woven circa 1880. The beautiful articulation of pattern and the high quality wool that of Sultanabad, it is a distinct style of Mahal rug that possesses the highest quality of wool and particular craftsmanship that is well respected by connoisseurs.
It is low pile, worn through time and has a lot of character. This Persian is fully intact, with some minor areas that we restored to keep its full integrity and strength. Truly evident in this rug as well is the heavy and natural abrash (shades/hues of vegetable dyes boiled in different batches) that change throughout. Please see pics for up close details. Lastly, it is loaded with a lovely, floppy handle.
Please consider a rug pad for this rug and it will stay put and protected. You can grab one with us at BPR and we'll custom cut if you for you...check out the details here: https://www.shopblueparakeetrugs.com/collections/rug-pads/products/xl-rug-pad
