This tribal rug was hand knotted in in the rugged mountains of NW Persia with a coarse weave and a sophisticated geometric design that we recognize as Heriz. These 1920s classic tribal rugs have constant demand and are timeless, powerful works that people love to style as the foundation of the room.
This low pile and durable Heriz sits on a carmine red ground that was sourced from madder root and it shows off superb ivory corner spandrels that pop and frame the rug exquisitely. The angular art work is crisp and has wonderful form. The rug showcases scattered wear and some minor spots with loss of wool, but the rug is fully there and has all of its foundation and sturdiness intact (please see pics).
Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool. A great value on quality, age, size and style.
