Woven by a Baluchistan female weaver in the late 19th century, this very nomadic antique Persian Baluch prayer rug is a very sacred and soulful piece of art. This wonderful rug was a personal piece that was carried daily by someone who prayed. Baluch rugs are known for their earthy color ways and the geometric linear pattern expressed in these colors reflects that.
Soft to the touch, this lovely rug has a very floppy handle with a low wool pile and a beautiful and raw wool foundation. There is a tiny patch on the bottom of the rug (please see detailed photo). The wool used was dyed using natural resources, such as vegetables, flowers, and plants. These rugs by nature are always woven small because the nomadic tribes moved so often. It does have some minor areas with some loss of wool, please see detailed pictures. This beauty is a very tribal scatter rug that can be used on the floor or hung on the wall as art.
We will ship a rug pad on the house to keep this rug snug.
